Show Ching Gin passed away peacefully on April 15th, 2024 surrounded by her children. She was 92.. the feisty, beautiful and courageous matriarch of her family.
Born in 1931 in Toishan, Guangdong, China to Me Fong Gin and Kwong Lee.
In 1949, Show Ching married the love of her life, Soo Chew Que Gin.
Together and with their first born daughter, Verna.. they immigrated to Vancouver, BC Canada in 1955.
Show Ching had such a zest for life. A knowing smile and a hearty laugh for all those who knew her. An awesome cook, she would make the best dim sum and dinners. A talented seamstress, she could put together a dress pattern and then figure out how to sew the most precise dresses and suits. Show Ching had a love for gardening .. both vegetables and flowers. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy but her gardening was her passion. We will miss the devotion, care and steady hand that she gave readily to those she loved.
Show Ching is predeceased by her husband, Soo Chew Que (1999). Their legacy include their five children: Verna Mar (Tom), Wanda Young (Howard), Eva Jang (Ben), Jack Gin (Sylvia), and Joe Gin (Merry). Twelve Grandchildren: Amy Leung (Thomas), Katie Mar (Geremy), Alex Young (Joannie), Adam Jang (Ha), Michael Gin (Kathy), Sean Young (Paula), Sarah Smith (Ryan), Samantha Jang (Travis East), Matthew Gin, Jayda Gin, Konrad Gin, Kasey Gin. Eleven Great Grandchildren: Alexa Leung, Clara Leung, Emma Young, Jonas Smith, Hannah Mar, Westley Young, Kinsley Young, Junia Smith, Elle Young, Henry Mar, and Zoe Smith. Show Ching also leaves behind her loving brother, Norman Lee (May) and his family, as well as her step siblings, Don, Dave and Moy (and their families).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Ocean View Funeral Chapel in Burnaby, on Saturday, May 18 at 1:00pm.
