Adult Guardianship

Nidus Personal Planning Resource Centre is a non-profit, charitable organization that works to ensure the public has a resource for information on Representation Agreements and other personal planning tools.

The Bloom Group offers an adult guardianship program to Chinese seniors to manage the income of low-income individuals who are no longer able to care for their own financial needs.

Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia was established under the Public Guardian and Trustee Act with a unique statutory role to protect the interests of British Columbians who lack legal capacity to protect their own interests. This includes protecting the legal, financial, personal and health care interests of adults who require assistance in decision making and the administration of estates of deceased.

Provincial Government An official source of information for seniors. This is the place to find resources for planning and living a healthy and active life.

Seniors Health

BC PharmaCare helps B.C. residents with the cost of eligible prescription drugs, certain medical supplies, and pharmacy services. It provides assistance through several drug plans.

Alzheimer Resource Centre provides information, education, and support services related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias; services are primarily in Chinese. Early Stage Support Groups are available for people in early stages of dementia, while Caregiver Support Groups are offered to those caring for someone with the disease; support groups are in Chinese only.

Office of the Seniors Advocate monitors and analyzes seniors’ services and issues in B.C., and makes recommendations to government and service providers to address systemic issues.

Seniors Transportation

HandyDART is a door-to-door, shared ride service for passengers with physical or cognitive disabilities who are unable to use conventional public transit without assistance. The driver will come to your home, help you board on the vehicle, and get you to the door of your destination safely.

SPARC BC provides parking permits for people with disabilities or mobility limitations so they can park in one of the designated parking spots throughout BC.

Seniors Medical Equipment

Red Cross equipment loan program lends basic medical equipment on a short-term basis to assist people coping with illness, injury or end-of-life challenges.

Seniors Services

Health and Home Care Society of BC serves traditional Chinese meals to homebound people delivered by Chinese-speaking volunteers in Vancouver and Richmond.

Chinese Christian Mission of Canada in Burnaby offers drop-in educational seminars for Chinese speaking seniors on topics such as exercise, gardening, health, and wellness.
